Japan is a country located in East Asia. Japan is often referred to as a country sunrise (Nihon or Nippon). Japan is an archipelago of 6,852 islands. The four largest islands are Honshū, Hokkaidō, Kyūshū and Shikoku which is divided into 47 prefectures, together accounting for 97% of Japan's land area. Most of the islands are mountainous, many volcanic; for example, Japan’s highest peak, Mount Fuji, is a volcano. Japan has the world's tenth-largest population, with over 127 million people. The capital and largest city is Tokyo. Japan's famous sakura (cherry blossoms) as the country because a lot of sakura in Japan. The national language is japanese and the national scripts is katakana, hiragana and kanji. Ethnic group in japan is 98.5% Japanese, 0.5% Korean, 0.4% Chinese, 0.6% other. Japan has a system of constitutional monarchy and parliamentary system. The emperor of japan now is Akihito and the prime minister is Naoto Kan.  Japan has 4 seasons, summer, winter, spring and autumn. 


Japan is a developed country. Especially in the field of transportation, electronics, robotics and construction. Transportation equipment is the famous train shinkasen. Japan also had a lot of space technology. Many Japanese astronauts sent into space. So it is with technology, many Japanese-made used. In disaster management, Japan is also very advanced. Because many have made the islands and volcanoes, then Japan is often hit by tsunamis, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions. But Japan has many tools as an early warning if there is a natural disaster.

Japan is a country that has many cultures. Some of the most famous ninja and samurai. Japan has a view of music known J-pop and J-rock. Japan is also famous for manga, anime, movies and video games. There is a place in Japan called Harajuku is famous for its fashion. Japanese traditional food, like sushi, wasabi, sashimi, ramen and shabu-shabu, well known around the world.
